There has been a short reprieve as the House Justice Committee breaks for the holidays before completing its review of Bill C-9, the Combatting Hate Act, and concerned Canadians should use this time to flood their MPs’ offices with letters asking them to vote down the bill and protect free expression in Canada.

FSUC Submits Brief to House Justice Committee on Bill C-9

The Free Speech Union of Canada has done a thorough review of the pending Combatting Hate Act, otherwise known as Bill C-9. In our opinion, the Bill should be withdrawn entirely, as an unnecessary and overbroad infringement of free expression in Canada.

Dixon v. Nanaimo Ladysmith Public School Board 

Bryony Dixon criticized the gender ideology at her son’s public school in a Facebook post. The school board responded by preventing her from entering the school without prior approval under the threat of calling the RCMP.
